The Joy of Sake

Experience the world’s largest sake festival outside Japan. Joy of Sake will feature nearly 400 premium sakes (217 sakes not otherwise available in the U.S) for sampling, plus dishes from few of New York’s top Asian restaurants like Ivan Ramen, Momofuku Ssam Bar and Sen Sakana.

The event offers sake aficionados the opportunity to try premium daiginjo, ginjo and junmai sakes, including gold and silver award-winners from the annual U.S. National Sake Appraisal.

NYC Welcomes Taste of Iceland

From Thursday through Sunday, representatives of Iceland will be traveling to Brooklyn to showcase the best of the country through various events such as 4-course dinners, live music performances, film premieres, design shows, readings and more.

Mix up delicious craft cocktails with Kári Sigurðsson of Reykjavik’s best cocktail bar, Apotek. The 1-hour class will include interactive tutorials on how to make craft cocktails, featuring recipes that combine traditional Icelandic concoctions with locally-crafted spirits. Tickets are free and first-come, first-served. Must be 21+ to participate.

From summer to Fall Fridays, Bar Fiori at Langham Place, New York will debut a new Friday happy hour starting at 3:00PM through the end of November. The weekly happening will feature a host of seasonal treats based around the concept of whisky and cider and how they blend together. The menu includes flights of New York whiskeys for $25, including Widow Jane and King’s County Bourbons, both from Brooklyn; Fall-themed cocktails for $11 by head bartender Pete Stanton like the Punch Di Mele, made with apple brandy, tepache liqueur, pineapple juice and cider; ciders on draft for $9, including Ciderie de Vulcain “Trois Pepins” from Switzerland; and lastly, the Sweet Treat, a combo of Orchard Hill Cider Mill, Ten 66 Red Label Pommeau with housemade apple cider madeleines by pastry chef Mari Gaube.
