inoteca, Barramundi, Brio close, Blue Bottle opening NYC

On the Move are updates of bars in NYC, including openings and closings.

‘inoteca shutting down this weekend:

It’s light out for Jason Denton and Eric Kleinman’s longtime Lower East Side Italian joint ‘inoteca. The Rivington Street eatery was one of the first legit restaurants in the ‘hood, but they are giving up their lease. ‘intoeca will be offering wine discounts and 10% off for anyone in the industry all week, and announced in a statement, “We want to extend our most sincere thanks to all of our guests for their support over more than a decade on the corner of Rivington and Ludlow. We invite all friends past and present to come and help us drink our 1,300 bottles of amazing Italian wine by Sunday morning at 4 a.m.” Denton also recently closed down ‘inoteca Liquori Bar, ‘ino and Betto, leaving only Corsino, Indie Food & Wine and his events catering company.

Barramundi closes

Barramundi set to close at the end of February:

Lower East Side hangout Barramundi is closing its doors at the end of this month, just six months after the space underwent renovations, reports Bowery Boogie. The owner reveals that he plans to close down and reopen a month later with a brand-new name and concept. The original Barramundi location was on Ludlow Street before moving to its current location in 2005. The second floor “speakeasy” will remain open during the overhaul.

Brio Flatiron closes

Bye, bye, Brio:

The Flatiron location of Brio has closed down, and the space formerly occupied by Mayrose and Lunetta is once again vacant. The Upper East Side location is still open, and there are no plans yet for the next tenant of the possibly cursed space at 920 Broadway.

Blue Bottle Coffee Opens in NYC

Blue Bottle expanding its coffee empire to Midtown

Devotees of California-based coffee company Blue Bottle will be happy to hear that a 445-square foot outpost of the java joint is opening at 54 West 40th Street, right across from Bryant Park. This brand-new Blue Bottle location, set to open this spring, will have a drip bar, a three-grouphead La Marzocco Strada espresso machine, and a mini keg filled with iced coffee. Last month, Blue Bottle opened up on Dean Street in Boerum Hill and plans for more expansion in California and New York soon.
