Puerto Rico Cocktail Week Celebrates its Fifth Anniversary Empowering the Bar Community

A Toast to Excellence: Puerto Rico Cocktail Week Celebrates its Fifth Edition

The event will take place from November 12th to 18th with a series of special activities and extend throughout the month with its Official Bars program.

San Juan, Puerto Rico | October 2023 – The flavor of a cocktail marks the beginning of a unique experience, but its magic lies in the skilled hands of those who prepare it and the passion of those who enjoy it. To honor its commitment to industry professionals and cocktail enthusiasts, the non-profit organization Puerto Rico Cocktail Week (PRCW) will celebrate its fifth edition from November 12th to 18th, with a schedule of consecutive events held at La Concha Resort and Official Bars around the island.

This week, Puerto Rico will become the epicenter of mixology and serve as a meeting point for experts and enthusiasts to share knowledge, explore trends, and celebrate the culture behind each cocktail.

While the main events will occur between November 12th and 18th, the celebration will continue with unique activations at PRCW’s Official Bars. This collaborative program aims to highlight local mixology on an international stage. As part of this effort, 46 bars in the island’s metro, west, and south regions will participate. Additionally, a Puerto Rican bar in Maine, United States, will join for the first time.

“For us, it is important that industry professionals continue to educate themselves about new trends. This is essential to continue elevating Puerto Rican mixology internationally and highlighting Boricua talent,” emphasized Roberto Berdecia, co-owner of La Factoría and founding partner of PRCW.

The cocktail week will kick off with an opening event at La Concha Resort in San Juan. It will then continue with educational seminars offered by specialized resources such as Manolo López, a Puerto Rican chef, producer, and creator of the Mofongo-Go pop-up project; LP O’Brien, entrepreneur and winner of Netflix’s Drink Masters series; and Tara Fougner, co-founder and CEO of Thisty Magazine, and one of the most influential figures in the cocktail industry according to Drinks International.

Among the highlighted initiatives is the Bartender’s Face Off competition, which will take place on Tuesday, November 14th, at La Factoría in Old San Juan. As part of PRCW’s commitment to the community, all proceeds from this event will be donated to a charitable organization.

The agenda will continue on Wednesday, November 15th, with a space to support local brands and connect with Puerto Rican culture. On Saturday, November 18th, the week will conclude with a grand celebration at La Concha Resort, attended by professionals and cocktail enthusiasts. The Official Bars Program, however, will extend until November 30th.

“We are excited to be able to hold this fifth edition and continue to elevate and highlight local hospitality and talent. Being able to have a project that makes top-notch education accessible while constantly contributing to the Tip Jar is a collective achievement among sponsors, collaborators, and attendees,” concluded Deliana Olmo, co-founder.
