It’s not quite spring, but we already have warm weather on our minds. And when the sun is shining, there is nothing better than a nice, creamy milkshake – and a shot of booze doesn’t hurt, either! Here are some of our favorite milkshakes from around NYC:
Shake Shack: Black & White Shake
As the name suggests, Shake Shack knows a thing or two about ice cream beverages. Made with the Shack’s hand-spun vanilla and chocolate custard, the Black & White Shake is so decadent and delicious, you may not even have room for a burger. Just kidding.

Burger & Barrel: The Spiked Shake
This delicious treat from Chef Josh Capon‘s Soho eatery features a mix of vanilla ice cream, Buffalo Trace bourbon and caramel sauce. Seriously, is there anything better? Game over.

Momofuku Milk Bar: Fancy Shakes
Soft serve, organic milk…and booze? The Williamsburg location of David Chang and Christina Tosi’s Momofuku Milk Bar serves their much-loved Fancy Shakes, available with all sorts of mix-ins like vodka and Kahlua for a Cereal Milk White Russian or espresso and Frangelino for the Fancy Espresso Shake. On the wagon? Go for the un-spiked option which is just as delicious.

Serendipity3: Apricot Smush
Everyone comes to Seredipity3 for the Frrrozen Hot Chocolate. And don’t get us wrong – it’s delightful. But the Apricot Smush is the real winner here, with the consistency of a slushie and a creamy finish, thanks to the whipped cream.

Bill’s Bar & Burger: Cookies and Cream Shake
The menu at Bill’s Bar & Burger – from the BR Guest crew – is simple and delicious. And the shakes are no exception. We especially love the Cookies and Cream Shake, and for an extra $4, they will spike it with a shot of Bailey’s Irish Cream.

Lexington Candy Shop: Root Beer Float
The scene at Lexington Candy Shop is about as old school as it gets, complete with swiveling stools and a 1940 vintage Hamilton Beach milk shake mixer. And while the selection at the luncheonette includes everything from classic milkshakes to egg creams to malts, we are partial to the Root Beer Float made with Bassett’s Ice Cream.

Oddfellows Ice Cream Co.: whatever is available
The brainchild of wd-50’s Sam Mason, Oddfellows Ice Cream Co. is known for their off-beat flavors like chorizo caramel swirl and tobacco leaf-smoked chili huckleberry made from locally sourced milk from Battenkill Valley Creamery. And while they don’t have an official milkshake menu, the Williamsburg shop is happy to turn any of the 8-10 flavors available daily into a 16-ounce shake (as seen in the featured image, above), as long as there are no big chunks.

BareBurger: Bananas Foster Milkshake
We already loved BareBurger for their mouth-watering organic, grass-fed beef patties. But we keep coming back for the shakes, especially the Bananas Foster Milkshake made with all-organic vanilla ice cream, milk and fruit, topped with caramel sauce. Yes, seriously.
