What better way to celebrate National Gin & Tonic Day on October 19th than with this tipple from The Bazaar by José Andrés at the SLS Beverly Hills?
Made with a refreshingly simple – and boozy – blend of Hendrick’s gin and Fever Tree tonic, the Ultimate Gin & Tonic is made just how Chef Andrés likes it. To personalize the cocktail, guests can also choose Bombay Sapphire, Tanqueray, Gin Mare, or Hendrick’s – and two tonic waters – Fever Tree or Stirrings – for a bespoke version.
“There’s something about the simplicity of a gin and tonic,” explains Miguel Lancha, ThinkFoodGroup Cocktail Innovator. “The composition makes it so perfect for a moment of sitting and talking with friends while enjoying a refreshing gin and tonic.”
Ultimate Gin & Tonic recipe and preparation
- 2 oz. Hendrick’s gin
- 1 bottle (200 ml) Fever Tree Indian tonic water
In a globe/large double oldfashioned glass, add a 2×2 inches ice cube. Pour the gin. Arrange the garnish (lime wheel, lemon peel, juniper berries, verbena or kaffir leaves and marigold flower) in this order, on top of the ice cube, so that they stay on top, making sure you express the oils of the lemon peel inside the glass and smack the verbena or roll the kaffir leaf, so they all impart a strong aroma. Pour half the tonic water tableside and leave the bottle with the rest of tonic water on the table
Pour half the tonic water tableside and leave the bottle with the rest of tonic water on the table.
Happy Gin & Tonic Day!
