In its latest move to completely take over as the go-to party destination for all of NYC, Williamsburg is opening a new nightclub this weekend. Joining the growing list of clubs in the Brooklyn nabe, Verboten will be a 10,000-square foot “multi-functional event space” for live music, art shows, burlesque performances and even yoga and fitness, according to Bedford + Bowery.
Set to open on Friday night, Verboten is the brainchild of Jen Schiffer and John Perez, who have producing dance parties under the same moniker for over a decade and will join the ever-growing list of Brooklyn nightlife destinations including Outpost, Brooklyn Bowl, Kinfolk and more.
Verboten will feature DJ booths in both the large Control Room and more intimate Cabaret Bar, with plush leather banquettes, multiple skylights, steel chandeliers and a small stage. The drink menu will include small-batch craft cocktails with a heavy focus on absinthe and small plates like bacon and foie gras.

This Saturday, Verboten will launch the monthly Wasabassco Burlesque Show (free with RSVP) but normal nightly cover charge will start at $20, because this is the new Williamsburg.
Expect sets from electronic group Cut Copy, Jamie xx (of the xx), Damian Lazarus and parties hosted by nightclub queen Suzanne Bartsch plus many more to be announced.
