Queens Beer Week to highlight the borough’s local beer scene

On the heels of the NYC Craft Beer Week that took place around the city late last month, Queens is now hosting their very own event. The first annual Queens Beer Week will begin on April 19 with a kick-off party at Singlecut Beersmiths and run for nine days, featuring craft beer-realted events that will showcase the local breweries and growing beer scene in the borough.

Organizer Dan Bronson, who runs the beer program at Astoria’s Crescent and Vine, said he came up with the idea for the event along with the owners of Queens Kickshaw and Sunswick, two other Queens-based craft beer venues, and is looking forward to showcasing the unique beer scene.

A full schedule of events won’t be released until April 1, but the festivities will include more than 30 beer-related events spread out at venues across the borough, including Crescent and Vine, Queens Kickshaw, Alewife NYC in Long Island City and Forest Hills Station. Guests should expect courses on tasting beer and wine, chocolate and beer pairings and brewery demonstrations, and most will be pay-as-you-go.

Other local breweries slated to participate in Queens Beer Week include Bridge and TunnelBig AliceRockaway BrewingSingleCut BeersmithsFinback and Barrier Brewing Co. from Oceanside, L.I.
