Mardi Gras in New Orleans is going to be extremely different in 2021 with announcements of bar closures due to health and safety concerns surrounding the pandemic. Since we can’t go out and enjoy Fat Tuesday in New Orleans, iconic restaurant Brennan’s is sharing a special cocktail to celebrate at home. The Purple Drink by Brennan’s Beverage Director, Braithe Tidwell, is the perfect drink to toast “Laissez les bons temps rouler” safely at home.
Tidwell shares about the Purple Drink, “The colors of Mardi Gras are Purple (Justice), Green (Faith) and Gold (Power). This brightly colored purple cocktail adds an extra festive spirit while keeping in theme with the holiday.”
The Purple Drink Recipe
- 1 ounce Citrus Vodka
- .75 ounces Peach liqueur
- .75 ounce Pea Tea Syrup [recipe below]
- .75 ounce Lemon juice
Mix ingredients, stir over ice, and serve up with a twist.
Pea Tea Syrup
- 1 cup Butterfly Tea [easily available for online purchase]
- 1 cup Sugar
Procedure
Brew 1 cup of Butterfly Pea Tea and add 1 cup of sugar. Stir. Let it cool.
